Just a FYI this is going back a few years, but even for such a small Village in West Cornwall on the main road between St Just and St Ives theres a lot of folk and locals about who are really into their radio hobbies. I remember seeing a pair of VHF Handheld’s down at The Radjel Inn many moons a go.
The accommodation is affordable if you go on holiday with your pet ie ‘Dog’ or ‘Dog’s and they also have a camping site out the back too.
Click here to take a look at their website and see if you recognise John from Poldark.

The owner who has appeared in the classis Cornish film series Poldark at the time owned a jack russell dog that had just three legs but was still content and happy. A true pub with lots of characeter and one of my old haunting grounds when I were growing up.
I met with one local who at the time was the husband to the lady behind the bar he was a G1 Radio Amateur. Also there was a guy that lived nearby who worked at Lands End Airport, so before leaving on our last day he asked if I could or would programme his radio-scanner so I did.

I introduced myself, this is long before my XYL Hannah left me and my Father also passed away. (Same day in case you were not aware). – Feb 2024. RIP Dad.
Of course on this trip I had a Handy with me, just a Baofeng as seen below and on the cover pic, its all thats needed down South West Cornwall and even here in Saltash / Devon – Theres no call for anything else, we are still a very analogue group of Radio Amateur’s.
