Do I need a VHF Marine Radio?

boats low tide forder creek

Yes, 100% if you respect how the cruel sea has taken many a lives over the years and there will plenty more sadly to succumb the same ill fate and also if you care about your crew, self and passengers.

After all your latest IP?? smartphone will not work when just a mile or two off the coast, this is where a VHF Marine radio is essential.

With the right training you can rely on your VHF Marine Radio to get assistance and also receive maritime weather and coastguard broadcasts which can change within a matter of minutes if not seconds.

Most boats and ships keep a watch on VHF 16 – International Distress frequency., CB radio has been used in the past but there’s no proof this will be as reliable as international VHF marine radio frequencies, nor have we heard anyone actually use CB radio at sea certainly not in all the time we have been using / selling radio communications.

XM200 VHF Handheld Marine Radio

XM2000 – Pictured is a very reliable VHF Marine Band handheld, do check our used stock we do get radios like these,  if you are selling, please let us know. Because this is a dedicated Marine VHF and a quality model we sell these used for around £89.99

KSU7 VHF Marine Band Handheld Radio

KSU7 – This is a brand new VHF Marine band radio we hold stock to – Its waterproof and is a commercially available radio that the makers programme especially for the VHF Marine band.  The battery is a modern LI-ON rechargeable.

A bargain at just £99.99 new or two for £189.99

*You could have a dedicated based at the bridge and a handheld or two when communicating with crew on board, on dinghy or ashore.

**If you want maximum range we will always suggest a fixed marine band base in your ships driving posistion

*** RYA Training is essential as is a valid licence.
