Hi there, my name is Lawrie.

You might know me as the one riding a Muddyfox Moto e-bike around Saltash and Plymouth. Perhaps we’ve met through the amateur radio hobby, or maybe you’ve seen my work as an award-winning Cornish landscape photographer. You may even know me as the chap who’s occasionally made a hasty exit from Derriford Hospital when everything became a bit too much. Or perhaps you simply know me as a friendly, ordinary bloke who, like so many others, lives with personal health challenges and mental illness.

However you know me—or even if we’ve never met before—welcome to The CQ Shop. You are most welcome.

The CQ Shop was born from a genuine passion for amateur radio and the fantastic community that surrounds it. I wanted to create a place where fellow radio enthusiasts could find quality equipment, honest advice, fair prices, and friendly, personal service from someone who actually understands the hobby.

Whether you’re studying for your first licence, making your first contact, building your dream shack, chasing DX, operating portable, or you’re a long-time amateur with years of experience, my goal is to help you enjoy the hobby with confidence.

For me, amateur radio has always been about more than equipment. It’s about learning, experimenting, making friends across the world, helping one another, and keeping alive a hobby that continues to inspire people of all ages.
